The Pitt Program Council and Pitt Votes bring you the 2022 Midterm Election Prediction

Contest!

November 8th, 2022 is election day and we want students to become informed about the

election. We put together a contest where you can predict the outcome of the U.S. Congress,

state and local elections in Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh, and various Statewide Ballot

Referendums. We encourage you to do any research on the questions necessary to make an

informed prediction! If you make the best predictions, you could win a Meta Quest 2 virtual

reality headset, Nespresso VirtuoPlus espresso machine, and Zonli cooling weighted blanket!

Here is a downloadable document with the questions of the contest for you to work through if

you would like to do so before submitting answers: Election Prediction Worksheet

Once you are ready with your answers you can head to this link or scan the QR code to submit

your answers on the form: https://pitt.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9mHl9NkXnZzEw4K

You must submit your answers to this link by 11:59 PM Monday, November 7th in order for your

entry to be counted. The rules from the contest are listed below.

Official Rules:

Eligibility: Any undergraduate student currently enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh Oakland

campus is eligible to enter. One entry is allowed per student. Multiple entries will cause a

student to be disqualified. All entries are due by 11:59 PM on Monday, November 7th. The

contest submission link will close after that time and no additional entries will be submitted.

Prizes: 1st Place Prize = Meta Quest 2 128GB virtual reality headset. 2nd Place Prize = Nespresso

VirtuoPlus espresso machine. 3rd Place Prize = Zonli cooling weighted blanket (60” x 80”, 20lb).

The winners will be determined after all electoral outcomes in the contest have been confirmed.

All winners will be notified by email. Prizes will be shipped directly to each winner. Note:

Winnings may be subject to appropriate taxes. Winnings may also affect your financial

aid. Please check with your financial aid counselor for details.

Contest Rules:

(1) Questions C, D, E, H: In case any individual candidate withdraws or is

replaced by another nominee, a new nominee representing either the Democratic or Republican

Party will be considered as that party’s nominee.

(2) Questions A, B, F, G: These outcomes will

be decided as soon as the winner has been finalized in enough contests within each chamber to

determine which party (if any) will control a majority of the seats in the next legislative session,

based on the outcome of the 2022 Election. If any outcome has not been determined by 11:59

pm on January 10th, 2023, the outcome will be decided by the balance of power of the

representatives currently in office at that time. In case no single party holds a majority of the

seats, the correct answer will be Neither.

The Pitt Program Council will make final judgments about the results from all questions, and all decisions are final.
