Do you need a pick-me-up after returning to Oakland from Winter break? Want a getaway to New York City at the LOWEST PRICE POINT around (even if you were to book it yourself)!? Want to watch the 2021 Tony Award’s “Best Musical” Moulin Rouge!? If you said yes to any of these questions, then join the Pitt Program Council for our annual Trip to New York City! Happening Saturday, January 14th – Monday, January 16th, 2023 (Martin Luther King Jr. weekend)! During the trip, students can take part in walking tours and bus tours of New York City to see all of its famous and historic landmarks. Students will also be able to attend the musical Moulin Rouge! (in orchestra seating)! Hotel accommodations will be near Times Square at the Hotel Edison, located at 228 W 47th St., New York, NY. Round-trip transportation will be provided by R/T Motorcoach Transportation. There will also be plenty of free time for students to explore on their own! Signups open Monday, October 3rd at 8:30 am and will go through December 1st at 7 pm. Signups end at 7 pm Monday – Thursday and at 5 pm on Fridays. Students will be required to present a $100 deposit when reserving a spot. You can reserve a spot with the $100 deposit until November 11th at 5 pm (NO REFUNDS for the deposits after this date). After November 11th, if you wish to reserve a spot, the trip MUST BE PAID IN FULL. As for the full prices, if students are staying in a quad room, each student will have to pay $259. For students in a triple, the cost is $299 and students in a double will have to pay $369 each. On top of the fees for rooming, there will be an additional $30 refundable security deposit as well. Full prices must be paid NO LATER than December 1st. Students can either pay in cash or check. Due to public health concerns, you can only purchase a quad room if you have four people in a group, a triple room if you have three people in a group, and a double room if you have two people in a group. We are unable to mix and match people. With regards to masking and vaccination policies, the Pitt Program Council will be following all guidelines the theatre, New York City, CDC, and the university recommends at the time of the trip. This trip is sold as a COMPLETE TRIP only. Sign up in room M-30 of the William Pitt Union and make sure to bring your insurance card and $100 deposit! This trip usually fills up quickly, so sign up today! In the event that spots do fill up before December 1st, we will cease signups.
